About the Collision

This year marks the end of so many things, so Alejandra and I decided it should also mark a beginning. With her graduation from high school approaching in June, our time together in Honduras is too quickly coming to a close.

In just over two years, it is hard to exactly describe what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown as a result of our friendship. I first encountered Alejandra in Psychology class, where she refused to “open her heart” (a Honduran expression that means to open up) to anyone, but if you’re sneaky (as I am) you’ll see her eyes widen to reveal what lies marvelously underneath.

In this, our last year before adventuring to different places on the map, we have set before ourselves a challenge involving some of our favorite things. Primarily laughter (how could it not?), but also baking (Alejandra only recently “opened up” about this gem), philosophy, conversation, and community.

Each Monday, will find us baking a new recipe in Alejandra’s family kitchen, reclining with her family for evening meal, and it will find me writing about it as I am now.

Here, we hope that you will join us, bake with us, make suggestions, and most of all ENJOY life with us. We both believe, no matter how far down the road one is, everyone is meant to squeeze the most joy out of every moment granted us. And we purpose to do just that.
